Kristin Belew: "Strength" Octopus Arm Gyotaku

Medium:  Original gyotaku on rice paper. White acrylic on black rice paper
Size: 16 x 20"  framed

This piece shows all the details that can come through in ONE octopus arm.  The larger suckers can be seen in great detail.  This species is a day Octopus, and though they have incredible strength- in comparison a single Giant Octopus Sucker can hold 35 lbs!!
