This monster of a fish was caught shore casting and brought in single handedly by a local Lāna‘i fisherman, Terrence Sarme. This Giant Trevally (Caranx ignobilis), known as Ulua in Hawaiian weighed in at 97 pounds! One month prior, I was lucky enough to print another Ulua that weighed in at 98.9! These two fish were actually caught by family members and ironically this fish print was about 1 inch larger than the first. It is likely the fish lost blood and water weight prior to its official weigh-in and could have easily been inducted into the “100 pound club”.
