Hand embellished Custom Reproduction piece.
Size 16" x 16"
I created this piece to memorialize the fish my nephew speared inside a cave off the Lāna‘i coast. These fish congregate under ledges, in caves and other dark places during the day. At night they come out to swim freely and feed. Menpachi are an important and delicious food for many people in Hawaii. The word, Menpachi, is actually the Japanese name used for most soldierfish here in Hawaii. The Hawaiian name uʻu is not as commonly used. This species is the Brick Soldierfish, (Myripristis amaena.) I used the same fish printed 3 different times to carefully create this piece of 3 different fish in a school.
Framed Size: 20” x 20”
Embellished Media: Prismacolors on archival giclée reproduction
