Hand embellished Custom Reproduction piece.
Size: Approximately 85" x 40"
This 150 pound Ahi was caught just off the coastline of Lāna’i, fairly close to shore! This was an incredibly rare catch as we don’t normally find true Ahi (yellow fin tuna that are over 100 lbs) anywhere near Lāna’i. A military nurse from Oahu who loves fishing and hunting was on the sunset trip where this fish was snagged and she was able to single handedly real in the fish from start to finish. Everyone involved was “over the moon” to be able to bring in this enormous and special fish. Ahi in Hawai’i are a very sustainable option for fish, as they are plentiful in this region. This tuna fed over 20 families on the island and I felt so blessed to be able to print this beast. This was one of the most challenging pieces I have ever completed. Because tuna are so round and thick, it was very hard to accurately print this wildly 3D fish onto 2D paper, but I am very pleased with how it turned out! The Fish is about 6’ in length (on longer paper) and could easily be cut into a triptych piece.
Embellished Media: Prismacolors on archival giclée reproduction
