No humuhumunukunukuapua’as aka, reef triggerfish (Rhinecanthus rectangulus) were harmed in the creation of these prints!!!  We caught, printed, then cooked up the more palatable, Bridled Triggerfish.  I added in all the coloration and details to turn this gray fish into our beautiful little Hawaiian state fish named Laverne.  The phrase nukunukuapua’a translates to “nose like a pig.”  These fish are known to grunt like pigs when frightened.
