Size: Approximately 27" x 17"

Pacific threadfins (Polydactylus sexfilis) are known as Moi in Hawaiian and were reserved for only royalty or Ali’i in traditional times.  They were more rare during these times and were often captured in manmade fish ponds.  This fish species is named for its pectoral filaments (threadfins), which aid in feeding and searching for food.  Polydactylus roughly translates to “many fingered.”  Today these fish are still sought after, but most commonly caught via a throw net, however, my friend Bowe was actually able to spear both of these fish with only a 3 prong or pole spear!  This was a pretty amazing catch and I am honored to have been able to create this piece because of it.
