Hand embellished Custom Reproduction piece.

Size 22" x 36"

Unofficial World Record Breaker!! This rare fish with huge eyes is known as an Alfonsino, Red Bream, or Kinemedai in Japanese. These fish are known to inhabit deep waters worldwide, but are rarely caught and are never this large! “Alf” was the perfect name that I came up with immediately. Its obviously short for Alfonsino, but also for ALF (Alien Life Form) from the 80’s sitcom. They are most commonly seen in Japanese seafood markets and are highly sought after for sushi. The world record (verified by International Game Fish Association) for this species is 8 lbs 5 oz. Captain Ricky caught this fish in approximately 1,000 feet of water off Lana'i and weighed it at 13.25 lbs!! The average length for Alfonsinos is between 14” and 18” and “Alf” measures in at 30” head to tail. This is a one-of-a-kind original piece and if filing all the paperwork wasn't so much work... this exact fish would have completely broken the IGFA World Record!
