This Giant Trevally (Caranx ignobilis), known as Ulua in Hawaiian, weighed in at 87 pounds and was landed off of the western coastline of Lana’i.  Uluas are apex predators that are the largest in the jack family.  They are highly sought after by fisherman because of the tremendous fight they can give.   A catch like this and the resulting print come around once in a lifetime!  My friend Aaron went fishing for bonefish (max weight 15 lbs) using a small 1 inch hook and only 80lb test line late one night.  After his reel was nearly spooled, he was able to fight this beast of a fish and bring it all the way in over rocks and the breakwall sinle handedly without breaking the line or the fish breaking free.   Aaron and I decided we should print his record catch with the hook and line still in the exact place it was when he caught it.  We stretched the line to represent the first moment the fish was hooked and then ran. This print is very special and means a lot to me because I know there will probably never be another catch like this that I get to recreate.
